Student Assistance Fund- Receipts

    Hi!

I'm putting in an application for the student assisstance fund and just had a few questions about receipts + your bank statement.

Do you have to explain every cent of expenditure with a receipt? I started collecting receipts last week.
But then I owe my friend 20 euro which I'll need to give her next week. Will this gap in receipt collecting go against me?

Also I was wondering about buying cigarettes. Would this be accepted or would cigarettes be a luxury item?

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Hey!
No, you don't have to account for every single cent. As long as you have the receipts to prove what you have spent it's fine. So if your friend gave ya 20 euro and you bought food/pay rent/payed bills with it, it doesn't matter that you borrowed it.

You can't claim for cigarettes, alcohol, gambling tickets such as scratchcards. They are luxury items. You can claim for things like chocolate though! Hope that helps you!

For Bus Tickets, would a big wad from last year be okay? Or would they allow you to hand a weeks worth in at a time?

    Seriously?

Yes I was being serious actually. I have managed to seriously cut down but I'm struggling with giving up completely.

Hopefully in the near future I won't need them at all.

I figured that they probably wouldn't count but thought I'd ask to make sure.

    No harm in asking right?

    Or maybe there is.....

Depends how far last year. If it's from like January you'd be pulling their leg a little but anything from March on would be alright!

Hi sorry for hijacking the thread. But also have a question about the SAF, does it cover laptops? There is a section for class materials in the form and I would need a laptop for college work. If anybody has experience of this any info would be great.

Hmmm, can I use the registration fee as a receipt?

Nope, that counts as a fee. Fees cannot be used towards the overall value of receipts

In the form there are only 10 lines for each category, if i have more than 10 receipts for food am i ok to put the rest in 'other' or do they only take 10 for each section?
