    I'm guessing Todd's finger is hovering over a trigger and Lydia changes his mind in some way. I can't figure out any other reason why they would introduce this sub-plot so late in the game.

    He makes his affections known. She rejects him. He follows her to her home, breaks in, kills her nanny and holds her kid hostage. "Please ma'am, honest to goodness, I'm a swell guy...just give me a chance to prove it to you."

    By the glory of Stockholm Syndrome, she eventually comes around to caring for him.

    I hope Jesse takes revenge on Todd by somehow killing Lydia. (I know, never going to happen)

    Todd has two weaknesses, his feelings for Lydia, and his respect for Walt. Walt's best chance of getting to the nazi group is to exploit Todd's respect for him.

    Hard to know how Todd's Lydia weakness can be used against him unless Walt or Jesse somehow find out, can't see how that would happen.

    Lydia being Lydia, I wouldn't be surprised if she continues to pressure him to kill Skyler. And he might go through with it this time, or try to.

    As already said this is one of Todd's weaknesses and will play a part in his downfall. Maybe Todd takes offence at what one of the other nazis does or says in relation to her.

    To explain why they are keeping Jesse hostage (in spite of all the money they now have). There should be more to it in the final episode though.

    they dont have to do anything with the sub plot, it's just a way to humanise todd without putting much effort into it

    saying that, his having a crush on lydia is what saved jessies life in the last ep so maybe it's already run its course?
