I think there is a primer/sealer you can get to keep the dust down on the concrete and help the paint adhere better

I did mine, used 6 coats od PVA then 4 coats of floor paint. It still looks good as new.

You may not want to go to the extent I did but you should definitely do a few coats of PVA first to seal it otherwise the paint will come away.

Give it a good hard sweep between each coat of PVA to work loose any bits of dust etc and a good hoover and mop before the next coat.

Oh, don't scrimp on the quality of the paint. The first 2 coats I did were cheap crap and the last 2 were diamond coat or something like that. 3 times the price but there really was no comparison.

I think I have pictures somewhere of the different stages. I can post them up if you want

You can spray or paint on the PVA, I painted with a roller

And make sure no kids or pets are around to trot all over it before the paint dries. They're divils for doing that.

I did this recently as a favour. I swept the floor thoroughly, then washed it with a solvent. Painted on with normal floor paint. 2 coats was plenty. Going great 5 months later with a forklift driving over it from 8 to 6 all day.
