Giant TCR Advanced/Giant Propel BB

    Howdy folks,
I've bitten the bullet and am about to pull the trigger on a new Propel Advanced Frameset for 2014. I have a small dilemma though with regards to the BB. I have a Rotor 3d power2max powermeter and am worried that it might not be compatible with the BB on the bike. I have been onto the company and they will not guarantee a fit as they have to see the frame in the flesh to work it out (so they say anyway). The TCR/Propel have the same 'powercore' BB from what I can make out and am basically wondering of anyone has a rotor 3d chainset on a TCR advanced or P2M for that matter. I have been onto the Giant rep and the shop in Dublin and they haven't gotten back to me yet. The curio usury is killing me. Any help out there.......
    Cheers

Its Shimano BB86 press fit (I have same on a 2012 TCR Advanced SL ISP). Any shimano compatible crank will work - your rotor crank may be BB30 though, which might not.
Why can the place you're buying it from not tell you? Don't expect much help from the Giant ireland distributors - they are worse than useless in my experience.

Just checked this. The Rotor 3D crank will work, but the 3D+ will not.

@spyderski-thanks a million for all that. The bike was brought to my lbs by the rep for me to see it and then he took it away with him. They are very very scarce and getting answers is proving difficult for this reason me thinks. Power2max have inserts for adapting most bb's to a certain chainset but the one major question that they asked was the outer daimeter of the BB and it needs to be less than 53mm as per this link. http://www.power2max.de/northamerica/support/bottom-bracket-standards/.

In fairness giant Dublin emailed the head office for an answer and I haven't heard anything since and my local lbs mailed the rep while I was in the shop after speaking to him on the phone about it. If only that bloody bike hadn't been launched I wouldn't have this problem!!!

The BB shell is the same as my TCR Advanced, so if the Rotor cranks work on last years model it will work on the Propel. Can't understand all these people who are involved in selling the products not knowing their stuff.
That said, I'd suggest contacting Rotor directly for confirmation - the BB on the Propel is more or less a standard size (or whatever passes for standard these days), so its really more to do with crank compatibility than it is a frame issue.

Christ-why didn't I think of that. It was probably too obvious for me!! I guess the p2m is only put on that particular crank and Rotor will be the experts from that point of view. Not defending the lbs but he has seen the propel in the flesh for the same length of time as me but ffs one would imagine that the Giant rep would know these answers!!! Thanks spyderski for helping to lighten my pocket!
