Put petrol in diesel car

I put €15 in a 01 galaxy 1.9diesal,which was about quarter full so I reckon there was about 15% petro to diesel ratio, filled it to the neck with diesel after i realised my mistake and drove it about 140 miles afterwards.
It is down to half full since and sometimes it takes a while turning over to get it started and other times it starts straight away.

Hoping that if I brim it again that it will dilute it down further and it will start more freely eventually,is their any oil additive that I should add to the tank that might help with the process?

25% is really high, I would have got some out at least before topping with diesel.
Nothing you can add really, except diesel.
But if there's been harm done its done by now so you may have got away.
Petrol is very bad for the injector pump and can cause detonation in the cylinders too.

    An older Diesel.

Keep her brimmed and I can't imagine it'll cause you much harm.

Newer CR engine perhaps but unlikely in that thing.

I used to throw a €5 worth of petrol into the golf to clean her out. Reckoned it was cheaper than redex etc and did the same job.

On new diesels I wouldnt do it though!

    Thanks guys.
THING,Better not let the missus see that or it will confirm all her suspicions and give her an even bigger stick to beat me with, not bad on diesel though when I do put DI:DESAL in.

Personally I would'nt even switch in the ignition when a car is misfueled.

Id put a little two stroke oil in mabye. Itll give the petrol some lubricity that might keep it someway from being harsh on the fuel system.

Yea I was thinking about two stroke and I got a little bottle that I use for the con saw,how much of that would you put in and would you wait to fill it back up first?

You've already driven it 140 miles with the petrol in it. If it hasn't broken down yet it will be fine.
Just keep topping up with diesel every second day for a week or so, no need for 2 stroke imo.

Usually treble the ordinary dosage but as Biko mentioned, if youve done good mileage already Id say youd be ok.

I think the ratio is 200:1 diesel to 2 stroke, so maybe 250ml in a full tank for normal use, perhaps a bit richer to counteract the petrol. Best not use fully synthetic 2 stroke though, or so i read. Thank God for older tech diesel engines.

Didn't think the diesel in to petrol would go so well,at least there is something to be said for owning an old banger:)
