Cost of a door for a Ford Mondeo?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Long story short is that I need to replace the rear passenger door in a 2004 Ford Mondeo. I just want to check that I'm not being ripped off by the insurance assessor garage (my own). They are saying a new door is about €500 and a second hand one a bit less. I've been searching around online and haven't found any information yet. Before I go and ask for a second assessment, does that price sound reasonable?

    Cheers

Best thing to do is ring a breakers yard to see how much a second hand door costs.
Try Relihans they are in Kerry but are great to deal with. Ring and ask for Tom.

Seems in or around right for a second hand part.

Call Ford and ask them yourself how much a new one would cost. I find the fellas in Sandyford pretty good (Spirit Ford)

This is a second hand one. Obviously needs painting too

The prep & painting are the big labour cost, be it new or 2nd hand door.

You might get lucky in a breakers yard and get one same colour

Don't forget the building of the new door (changing over window regulator, locks, trim and maybe hinges) will be a significant cost also.

I got a complete secondhand door for an Audi Q7 through partfinder.ie for €200.00 recently.

I can't remember the name of the dismantler but they were based in Finglas.
They actually wanted significantly more for a complete door but only €200 if I gave them my door. I presume he could then resell all the door parts from my one, mirror, glass, trim, window motor, speakers etc.

Partfinder works like a broker for car dismantles so, you just put in your part request and they search their nationwide database of breakers.

They actually located 3 doors for me but luckily the one in Finglas was in the right colour. It took the guy in the breakers about 5 mins to remove my damaged door and not much longer to fit the replacement one. The inside trim was similar but slightly different, so the guy there swapped them over for free, again in only minutes. I suppose these guys are doing this stuff all day every day and make it look very easy.

Obviously I didn't go through the insurance company for this, particularly as their garage were quoting just over €2000.00 for the job.

Are you paying for this out of your own pocket or claiming off your insurance?
