Rent allowance and moving in with boyfriend

So, my boyfriend and I are planning on moving in together next year.

We both currently get rent allowance in different areas for the places we currently live in, but neither place is really big enough for 2 people to live in.

I'm wondering how to go about getting rent allowance as a couple - I've read as much as I can find about it, but it seems unclear. I'm on the council housing list, am I supposed to inform them about moving in with my boyfriend, or just whoever handles rent allowance? (it was the community welfare officer, but I heard something about it going to a central office instead now).

Oh, and if it's relevant, I get disability allowance, and he gets jobseekers allowance.

Any help/advice would be appreciated :)

Would we need to move in together before claiming rent allowance as a couple, or can we claim and then move in together?
