I would like to spend about €150 on a good quality leather jacket. What should I be looking for?
Do you think there is much difference in high street stores as regards to quality. River island jackets are almost 100 cheaper than oasis for example, both seem fine to me, anyone have one and can vouch for their quality?

Also I love the biker style jacket, but do you think this style is long term or just a fad.?
€150 is a lot to me so I want to get it right. Thank you.

TKmaxx would be my recommendation, I picked up a great biker style leather jacket there for €46 on clearance

2nd rec for TK Maxx. You can pick up Michael Kors ones for about that price.

I have just been in tk maxx in st. Stephens green, looking for a leather jacket. They don't have many leather jackets but loads of beautiful coats, wool, parka, puffy etc... Will be going back to get one as soon as I can afford it.

I did see one nice tan jacket and was considering buying it but had been thinking black all along. As I was going through town I noticed nearly every second woman was wearing a black leather jacket, turned me off a bit.

All i see when i go around the shops looking for a good leather jacket is pvc, pvc, pvc,it literally does my head in.

Im going to be going to a karen millen shop in a couple of weeks time to see if i can get anything really decent in a size 14/16.

I bought this in Oasis last week and have been getting loads of compliments on it. It's slightly out of your price range, but they had at least 5 other styles at different prices so it's well worth checking out.

I usually get my leather jackets from Massimo Dutti, the quality is fab, but they are not within your price range. Have a fab tan one with navy trim and also a navy one.

Picked up a nice plain black leather jacket in Promod for 80 euro in the sale during the Summer. Have already got a lot of wear out of it.

Thanks for that rosebush,i used to go into karen millen years back and they only had leather jackets no pvc,but they must have changed will pop in and have a look but if they are all pvc's i won't be buying..

I find it hard to tell the pvc from the leather, years ago it wasnt a problem, but now they put leather like finishes on the surface of the pvc and sow up the insides so tight,it is almost hard to tell the difference..Usually there would be a suede inside to the leather and if you could see that you knew then you were on to the real deal..

Usually in this case if i wasnt too sure, i would ask the shop assistant, even then some of them would lie, they will do anything to fob you off on pvc these days,i find it really annoying,if im going to spend good money - it better be leather!

I was on ebay a while back and got what should have been a leather jacket,i ended up having to go through paypal dispute process,as i didnt get a leather jacket it was pvc!

I hate the fact now more so than a few years back, there seems to be more pvc on the market than leather..It just really gets me annoyed.

Surely you can just check the label on the jacket before purchasing?

I have a leather and suede biker style jacket from Topshop that's coming up to five years old now, still looks great.

It's very easy to spot the difference. If you can't tell by touching it, the smell is clear give away.

Anyway mango have a few leather ones. I had their coat years ago and I loved it. I don't know what the quality of their leather products is now.
