Low milage on Ford Mondeo

Is there not a service history?

You'd think one of the 3 owners would have serviced it at some stage. That'd give an indication of mileage.

Cartell will only tell you so much

Cheers colm, going looking at it tomorrow will check the service book.

Check with cork city ford centre anyway.

You've seen the dent on the wing?

Currentlylooking at mondeos myself... That's pretty expensive for a 08 petrol IMO.
Granted it has low miles and there are v few from what I've seen with such low miles... But I'm looking at diesel.
If you really like it try knock that down a bit.

All of the mondeo petrols from dealers in that price bracket are basic models with higher mileage.

It's been there at some stage (tax disc holder)

It has had 3 owners, so if its more than likely been on the used forecourt twice before and they'd all have given it a service before sale (you'd imagine)

I dunno what the story is with that car, my spidey senses are tingling

Could've just been a prereg, petrol mondeos were very undesirable in 08 with the new tax so that might account for one owner.

    Then again its February reg

A cartell check would at least tell you how long the first owner had it.

Cheers might give it a miss look for a Mazda 6 or something

Is it far away from you?
Have you driven a mondeo before?

40mpg! Not a chance, that Mondeo is a heavy car and the Irish version of the 1.6 litre petrol was lower than that sold in the UK.

Very near, never driven a mondeo.

Very near, never driven a mondeo.

Great to drive, comfy, spacious and refined. Nice interior to that spec as well. Some people worry that the 1.6 engine hasn't enough power for a car of that sheer size. But each to their own, I myself was on the cusp of getting a petrol, but a diesel was more suited to me only for mileage reasons. :)

Go down anyway, at least you can see if the mondeo does it for you.
Personally they leave me cold but plenty people like them.

What do you drive colm? Just wondering?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,520 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

Ya my dad was saying that engine is too small for such a big car.

Ya will check it out, he has a Golf too low for same place as the Mondeo so will have a look at that too.

Well your switching between two different size levels there, is the space needed in the mondeo or does it matter?

To be fair, the mondeo is huge in the back.

Suppose either is a big improvment space wise so :P , as colm said go and take a look yourself, sure at the end of the day it's what you're happy with!

Get some perspective though, drive as many cars as you possibly can. Even ones out of budget if they don't have the year you're after. Just get an idea of what you like.

Well in the hatchback anyway it goes back nearly a meter behind the back seats, before you get to the back window!

Cheers Colm what do you think of the Mazda's?

Rear seat room is huge I meant.

Re the Mazda6, I really like the new (now old) model, I'm not 100% convinced on the quality but I'd have one over pretty much anything in its class.

We've had a few mazdas in the family and they've been great, parts are a bit pricey though and our local dealer wasnt the friendliest.

    Oh ya, massive altogether!

Yes they seem to suffer from rust.

That's the older model. I had a diesel newer model, good car. Petrols go for peanuts and for the money they are a lot of car for it. Only real negative I found was the paint is very thin, mine could have done with a respray of the front end after 18 months/70k km but it was a dark colour.
