Folding vs Wire clinchers

So after my first exposure to folding tyres my faith has been shaken. I've had wire bead tyres on everything so far and only had 1 pinch flat in 12 months from hitting a very large pot hole (my own fault).

First full week with the folding tyres (same pressure) resulted in a pinch flat and then the tyre ruptured. I ride a mix of city and country roads, the country can be rough to be honest but the wire bead tyres have handled it no problem up to now.

I guess any tyre can fail but I was wondering what other people experiences have been? Are wire bead tyres more robust or have I just been unlucky?
