does anyone know what the recommended mileage interval is to chain timing chain in 06 bmw 320d e90?

Mechainc last year told me i'd need to get it done around 100k miles and i am approaching that now but checking on net, other people saying 150k is plenty?

there is no issue with the car, just the fact i'll probably break 100k miles early next year and due my service nwo so was going to get it done but could it be left longer?

Supposed to last the life of the engine.

Nope. Waste of money if it's not noisy.

06 320d is the older 163bhp engine, so no timimg chain issues with them.
OP, hope your on top of your breather filter changes though.

Your mechanic is either misinformed/confused or you took him up wrong. That 320d uses the M47 engine and the timing chain should be good for the lifetime of the engine. They very rarely give trouble in that engine.

Now if it was a 320d from late 2007 then you are talking about the new N47 engine which is known for snapping timing chains prematurely and it is advised to get it, guides and rails changed if it starts making noise. You need to be sitting down though when you get a price for the job even from an indy mechanic. It's a gearbox and engine out job in most cases with the E90.
