All you really need to know is that you must be a regular member of An Garda Siochana first for at least 3 years before you can apply for any specialist unit.

The info your asking for is not going to be given out in the public domain.

again if these questions are too probing please tell me as i am in no way trying to compremise garda operations

Use the search function. There was a thread similar to this a couple of years ago. I'm not sure how much info was provided (little, I'd imagine) but there was info on the selection requirements of the Army Ranger Wing (ARW) which might be of interest to you. If you can't find it in this forum it may have been the military forum.

You kind of answered it yourself. Compromise Garda operations.

There is plenty of general stuff about tactical units/ spec ops on the Internet to read about. When you look for specifics, you will meet a brick wall.

    BenVSS... Meet mr Wall :)

Goldie, would an arduous military course like p-company or all arms commando course, be a decent comparison for what you put your mind/body through? Talking sleep dep, wear down the body through constant physical activity, command appointments etc?

No, because it is a different job completely.

Yeah fair answer. I'd love to give the Gardai a crack when/if I get out of t'army in time.
