Recommend Winter Tyres/Tubes

    Hey guys,

    I started cycling not long ago on my Giant Defy 2. In the last 200km however since the weather and roads have gotten a bit worse I have had 3 punctures.

    Granted 2 of which were on crappy halfords tubes but still!

    Any recommendations for good road tyres for these conditions and tubes. Are gatorskins the best option?

    I've never found tubes to be a factor in getting punctures, sure there are differences in weight between cheap ones and pricy ones, but if the tyre is not penetrated, and if you have sufficient pressure in your tyres, then a cheap tube should not be any more susceptible to punctures than a weight-weenie one.

    Now here come the worms.
    Me: Gatorskins ftw, hands down. In the last 4 years I've had 4 punctures, (although 3 in the last week, one of which was due to the valve core unscrewing when taking the dustcap off (lesson learnt, dump the dustcaps) and not being able to get it back in tight enough by hand so leaked out during the day, the other 2 were due to a hole in my rimtape which I didn't notice when fixing it first time. So that leaves one "real" puncture in 4 years commuting, averaging 5000km a year or so)
