Can anyone recommend a winter coat?

Hi I was a lot broader, and didn't dress very well, so kinda reinventing myself the past while, not very trusting of my own judgment. So I'm wondering if anyone could recommend a winter coat, or winter clothing in general for me? tops or coats esp. What colours and style's would suit?. Here's another photo ytdi.th.jpg...
    Thanks
    K

Hi Freiheit! Navy and mustard shades seem to be everywhere this year and I think they would suit your colouring and hair colour; it really depends on your lifestyle and personal taste what type of coat you would go for, for example do you need something waterproof? Would you be wearing it mostly with skirts and dresses, or with trousers and jeans?
http://www.hm.com/ie/product/13999?article=13999-C This is my favourite coat this year, I think it's a bit of an all-rounder as it would look well with skirts or trousers. The grey colour is gorgeous and would go perfectly with navy, mustard, berry shades etc, and it comes in navy too (although I think the navy one looks a bit cheap!). If you want something more fashionable there's a black version with fake leather sleeves too!

The coat looks fab! Is this available in store? Is it warm?

Love that coat! will be popping by H&M this weekend to see if they have it in store. Would love something with a hood though. Anyone seen anything similiar? I would like something fitted if possible and not one of those puffy types jackets around at the moment as i look crazy in them!

I have just been in tk maxx in st. Stephens green, looking for a leather jacket. They don't have many leather jackets but loads of beautiful coats, wool, parka, puffy etc... Will be going back to get one as soon as I can afford it.

Is it important to avoid a clash with my hair, I mean red-red, like this coat?...http://www.awear.com/ie/en-IE/9-3378/LS-Skirted-Parka-for-sale-in-Clothes

Dee it would be worn mostly with formal trousers and blouse/cardigan. I don't drive so I need something warm, for when it does get cold. Not necessarily waterproof as I have a lillac, and red raincoat.

If you tend to wear bright colours anyway I wouldn't get too excited about a colour clash, I currently have pretty much copper coloured hair and I wear bright pinky reds, berry tones and corals all the time, it has never occurred to me that I might be clashing with my hair!! I like that parka but I would personally wear it more casually i.e. with tights and boots etc, why not try on something in a similar shape and see how it looks with your workwear?
Also have a look in the charity shops, my mum got an unworn Jacques Vert coat in the Irish Cancer Society shop yesterday for €7, original price would have been €200! Bargains to be had!

Oh wow Dee your absolutely right, tremendous bargain there:) I've donated some bargains I tell you...I do look in Charity Shops but hadn't yet really been looking at the coats, must change that as you never know I suppose what treasure we might find?....thanks for recommendation on tights and boots, I can see how that would look better than formal trousers....It's not urgent but I will need something for when it inevitably get's nippy . Thanks for mustard suggestion too and will keep it in mind.:)

You can never go wrong with a Topshop coat! I have had the same 1 for like years and still looks great and easy to wash :)

I have just bought this one today to add to the collection!

I bought this last week. Waiting for the weather to get cold enough now to wear it, though today was certainly wet enough!

Your hair is fab by the way OP :)

Hi got the burgundy coat quoted, 25% off in Awear, hopefully I'll get good wear, and yeah might be a good idea with jeggings or tights Dee. Hope Awear don't close.

I've a similar hair colour and I have a standard parka for everyday wear, grand with dresses/tights/boots, or over jeans.
My fav coat though, is a faux fur leopard print hip length jacket from topshop, about 3 or 4 years ago.
Its a little burst of happiness in a coat :)

I have been looking for a winter coat but I've seen nothing I like that is warm enough so far. Any suggestions welcome.
