Peugeot 406 Starter

I have a 2002 Peugeot 406 2.0 SRDT with a knackered starter (think its the solenoid actually) and I'm having trouble finding a replacment.

Odd thing is, on cartell and on the log book for the car its showing as a 2.0 SRDT, whereas on Service Box, its showing as a 2.0 HDI.

I've been to a breakers and they have shown me starters for the 1.9 and the 2.0, but alas, one of them has 12 teeth on the gear, the other has 11 teeth, and mine has 10.

This is rather a confusing one even to try to explain to the breakers on the phone.

Anyone have any ideas as to why I'm getting two different engine models, and where I might track a starter down?

    Thanks

probably best to get your own one reconditioned as it should cost around the same price as a used one which could possibly be on its last legs too.

Just checked and mine is a 12 tooth....As paultronix said remove your old starter and get it reconditioned..:-)
