What Independent Cinemas are available in the Dublin? When I google it i get lists like 'vue cinemas' in shopping centres. Is there any independent list of independent cinemas in Dublin?

Do you mean independently owned or arthouse cinemas? The Lighthouse and the IFI are the only two that fit both bills. You could perhaps call the Savoy and Screen independent screens, since they're Irish owned rather than some international conglomerate. That's pushing it though.

Thanks I understood there wasn't many cinemas to watch films from minority film-makers. But four is a good start, which Cinemas are near the City Centre (downtown)?

screen - townsend street, in the city centre about 7 minutes walk from the spire, same again from stephens green

lighthouse - the outer edge of the city centre, 25 minute walk from the spire on the northside of dublin. It's a lovely cinema, very comfortable and reasonably priced.

ifi - located within temple bar, great selection of films

I'd also suggest looking into getting a cineworld card (€21 a month for as many **** films as you want :D) for their parnell street cinema (8-10 minute walk on the northside from the spire). It's mainstream fair overall but does show less mainstream films and might make economic sense.

I've become one of those twats who reference the spire for everything, i figure you're a culchie or a foreigner kind sir :P

    this is the spire https://maps.google.com/maps?q=monument+of+light+dublin&hl=en&ll=53.349322,-6.260147&spn=0.090789,0.220757&sll=53.366328,-6.25946&sspn=0.090753,0.220757&hq=monument+of+light+dublin&radius=15000&t=m&z=12&layer=c&cbll=53.350149,-6.260265&panoid=WGUjcswbpgWH7jOeC_7l8w&cbp=12,188.92,,0,-16.52

I'd definitely recommend getting a membership in the IFI. With the free ticket you get and all the discounts it pretty much pays for itself by the end of your year long run with it. ;)
