Social Welfare Allowance

Hi, I'm currently waiting on my Social Welfare Allowance in Galway City. I had my interview/means test yesterday and I was told that I would have to wait a few weeks for it to come through.
I want to move to Cork but I was advised to wait for my dole to come through first as I could then just change my post office address to one in Cork, as opposed to having to reapply in Cork if I moved before the dole payments began.
Just wondering how long people have had to wait for their dole to come through?

Another query is about Jobbridge: I'm hoping to start an internship asap but I'm obvs still waiting on payments. In terms of the 3 month rule where you have to be on the dole this length of time before you can do a Jobbridge internship, do I take the beginning of the 3 months from the date I send in my application form at the very start of the process, or do I take it as the date my payments come through in a few weeks?

Any advice would be great, thanks!

You will get an idea of application waiting times for Jobseeker's Allowance on this thread: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055546279&page=46

YOu may be entitled to Supplementary Welfare Allowance while waiting for your Jobseeker's application to be processed: http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Supplementary-Welfare-Allowance-Scheme-SWA.aspx

Your 3 months starts from the date you applied for JA (really the date you were approved for JA, which would normally be 3 days after your application date). As far as Jobbridge is concerned there may be a little bit of leeway as regards exactly 3 months.

So when you say the 3 days after I applied, do you mean after I first went in with my application form to the SW office, rather than after the means test or anything?

3 days from date that you first went in with your application form.

I'm getting Jobseekers Benefit at the moment but the rate is too low so I've applied for Jobseekers allowance and been accepted. I got backpay on Jobseekers Benefit but does anyone know if I'll get backpay on Jobseekers Allowance as a result?

That doesn't make any sense tbh, do you mean that your JSB has run out?

If they are going to apply jobseekers allowance back to the start of your benefit claim then you should get back money of the balance between the two rates.
