I have a budget arc welding set that I use for small welding jobs, repairs and the like. Up to now I've been using the cheap hand held visor that came with the set, which, while it works is a pain when you're an amateur like me and sometimes find it difficult to strike the arc, especially on small work pieces. I've been think about buying an auto darkening unit for some time, but I don't know much about them or what brands I should steer clear of; this one looks good value, but is it any good, can you recommend anything else (my budget is limited and this is not something that will be used every day, maybe not even every week)

That looks fine, I have an autodarkening helmet and it makes life very easy compared with a handheld type of shade.
I would ask if there is any kind of warranty with it as some of them have been known to fail.
