    Hi,

Myself and my girlfriend are looking to go away at the start of January for 2 weeks. We have approx €800 each to spend. We'd also like all inclusive if possible. Willing to spend a little bit more if a really good offer/resort arises. We were initially thinking of the Canary islands. Any resort suggestions or alternative destinations?

    Thanks in advance.

Looking at Trailfinders, we came across La Flora Resort & Spa in Khao Lak, Thailand. Has anyone ever been to Khao Lak? We're looking at the last 2 weeks of Jan.

Trailfinders have it from €1,139pp for 2 weeks including flights and accommodation:

Would you recommend Khao Lak and this resort? Also, has anyone been in January? i.e. weather etc.

    Thanks.

We were in khao lak but not that resort. It's nice, you can still see the aftermath of the tsunami and the industry seems completely driven by tourism. We felt like we didn't really experience Thailand as we were in a lovely resort locked away from the locals. But we had a seriously relaxing time, the beaches are beautiful and the Thai people that we met were lovely. We took a day trip to koh phi phi which is well worth it. If you were initially thinking of the canaries then I'd imagine it's the Thai version of same...

Been to Thailand twice before-both times as a backpacker, for a month on each occasion. Did the usual route i.e. West & east islands, Phi Phi, Koh Phangan etc. would be nice to go as a tourist, stay in a nice place with a pool and not have to sleep in a hut this time.

I just don't think the Canaries would guarantee us sunshine tbh.

Canaries would pretty much guarantee sunshine in Jan but Egypt would, Falcon/Thomas Cook offer packages to Red Sea and you will get sunshine

lanzorotti has never left us down for winter sunshine, the only downside is the sun starts to loose its heat at 4pm.
