my two girls (6 and 4.5) are starting football tomorrow evening and the club requires them to have gumshields. I'd appreciate if anyone has any recommendation for a make or sports shop ie lifestyle, elverys
    Thanks

Apart from when wearing braces and I had to wear specialised gum-shield Ive nearly always have gotten the shock doctor gum-shield and theyre available in most stores like elverys etc. Cost isn't too much iirc only a few euro

Your club shop should stock them as well. So maybe buy 'em there and support the club. TBH though club prices are often higher than other sports shops.

I would recommend boil & bite mouthguards, I have a five year old & the junior size mouthguard is far too big for his mouth, with the boil & bite you can adjust to size for a better fit (see link for info)

You can even get them even in Lidl every so often.
You put them in hot water and shape them for the child.

My advice is to go cheap.
For 4.5 or 6 year olds they aren't really necessary. ***
And trust me they lose them.
For a 6 year old we have replaced three already in one year.
Likewise with a friend of his.
Granted they are lads and can't seem to remember much.

You don't want to be forking out more than 5 euro everytime you need to replace them.

*** Please don't now blame me if by some weird occurrence one of yours does get hit and breaks or loses teeth.

I'd say just go for a mid-price shock-doctor type gumshield; you can get them in any sports-shop. I've been using the same hot-water moulded one for the past 6 years, and never had any trouble with it.

    Rules is Rules!

I got the boil and bite ones, they were too big but the instructions said you could trim a little and soften up edges with a bare flame. thanks all.
