We have an opened jar of marmite (more than half eaten) with a best before date of 2004. I have read that they changed the recipe and some do not like it as much. How much would this jar sell for?

I'm a Marmite connoisseur. An unopened jar of vintage 2004 would fetch about 20-40 thousand euro. A lot of the flavour is lost by opening so I would say you jar is worth about 4 grand on the open market

Marmite is a lot like a fine 1935 Chateau Neuf Du Pěpe.

    It tastes like shíte.

An opened jar is not in mint condition any more so maybe only 1500 1600 thousand million dollar.

About one-tenth as much as a jar of Matterson's Potted Spreadable Meat-Like Substance that has been evolving rapidly since 1976 and is currently able to speak a few simple words.

Best before, but still good after. Does it have a "consume by -" date? If not, lay into it with a spoon and post the results here :D
