Students get an extra 20% off by registering via THIS LINK

You can use more than one code. I believe there are two other codes, but i can't find them. One is for 20% off. It's someting like ORLM20 (French code). Hopefully someone else on here will have it.

Use Code SEPT2013 to get 10% off

What stations will be able to pick up with the dongle?

I find it a bit slower than the previous version. May be its just me.

I dont use any of the live features (apps etc). I have an Android tv dongle that does the job for me compared to the live features of WDTV.

Apart from that it works fine. Plays all the format. Remote is ok. There's an android app for the remote as well.

And what is a better solution? Remember these play pretty much every file format and are a simple solution (i.e. no Plex server required).

Does this definitely work? There’s no mention of the bundle with free dongle once you add it to the basket.

I've had one for over 2 years- since I got it in Argos via a Bargain Alert here.
The only issues I have with it- is how long it takes to scan attached storage, and that its only single band- I'm getting kinda addicted to dual band devices, since wireless is so damn saturated here.

I'd have no hesitation in recommending it- however unless you're actually parked under the broadcasting mast- good luck getting a signal with the bundled DVB-T receiver.

I have one of these and would recommend it. It plays everything I throw at it and has a nice app for my ipod touch! The fact that my 6 and 3 year old can work it means they dont hassle me to change it!

Small complaints for me are that one of the usb connections is at the front which can be an eye sore if you have a cable sticking out of it! Also it can take an age when it first compiles your harddrive!

Also the remote from older Western Digital media players work on this, they just cover the basics but handy all the same!

You can get it on Amazon for around €74 if you dont want the dongle!

These are great players. Have one in the sitting room and one in the bedroom, nice that they play netflix and spotify too. I also like that you can play from media servers or from windows shares.

+1 on the library scan taking too long - I just turned off scanning on mine and it speeded the whole thing up.

Did anyone manage to get one of these through the offer ?

Tried, but got email saying it was on back order.

I think so - got the same back order email Sunday evening after placing an order Saturday evening. This afternoon I got a shipping confirmation. As of yesterday these were still showing as "In stock" so I'd expect you will get a shipping notice shortly.

I posted about using a dongle here:

WDTV Live + Hauppauge! USB stick = Saorview

Support for the dongles is quite recent. Everything works fine. Recording etc.. The only downside is channel surfing is slow. 1+ second for a change of channel.. might not sound like much, but it feels sluggish..

need to llok into that, as said above, the scanning issue is a pain.

for me theres a couple of irritants, could do with updating the apps once in a blue moon, getting rid of a few and adding new ones, for instance theres a movie streaming site/app which doesnt exist anymore, but the app is still on it.
and id like to be able to set favorites, i know you are supposed to be able to but i think that option is also defunct now.

other than that i wouldnt be without it, unless theres something better on the market, if so id love to know what it is.
