BMW dsc coming on when not needed

I was driving my 320d along going up a hill at about 45mph yesterday,I noticed a slight loss of power lasted only about a half second then it was back to normal.
today I'm driving again and I notice the traction control light is coming on in places it never used too... I could be going down hill or gently going round a corner and It just seems to cut the power for few seconds then goes back to normal...
if I turn off the dsc it seems to stop the interfering... Does anybody know what could be causing this to happen? Tyres have plenty of life and tyre pressures are ok...

Above or wrong size tyres, front vs rear diameter or both.

Tyres are all correct sizes, but I did have the 4 wheel laser alignment done recently unless it could be a steering wheel sensor issue?..

It could be but unless that pump was never changed before I can bet my life on it that that's the problem what year is the car

Are you talking about the brake pressure sensor fault?

That is a common problem but I'm not sure if the symptoms fit fully in this case though?

    It's a 2006.
I drove the car today and I've now got yellow abs warning light coming on along with red handbrake light.... I'm guessing this could be related?.

It means your ABS / TSC system is disabled or in reduced functionality mode. Which could be caused by ABS Sensor Failure, Tyre Size problem, really bad wheel alignment, Steering Angle Sensor or ABS Pump Failure or ABS Control Module Failure.

    Get the codes read.

I had the same issue with my 320d , it turned out to be one of the rear abs sensor's , approx 80 euro's in local motor factors (20 euros on ebay) and fitted myself in 10 minutes , as said above , get the codes read . I also found out at the time from a bmw technician that the ABS ring (the one that the sensor reads) can sometimes split , I bought a ring but when i took out the sensor I found all the tip of the sensor worn down , I checked the ring through the sensor hole with a torch and it was fine , so if you need the abs ring pm me.

So I took the car to the dealers for service and also got them to check the faults... Here's the invoice report...

    Fault stored in abs sensor.
Needs new back left abs sensor and half shalft.
Back right abs sensor also needs replacing along with right half shaft.
Need to reassess car for further faults.
Car also needs back right lower ball joint.
Front left pad sensor is not connected to brake pad.
Back left abs ring is marked and needs replacing.
Faults also stored against auxiliary water pump and steering angle sensor..

Now the car drives perfectly with the dtc turned fully off, I'm expecting these repairs will be a 4 digit sum, I'm not convinced it needs two half shafts.. Hoping the sensors will be adequate to solve the abs light.
Does anyone know if the steering angle sensor would be at fault due to the recent wheel alignment I had done?.

I had the same problem, 2 indie garages wanted me to change the abs unit (not cheap), took it to bmw, think they charged me about 250 to change the sensors and it solved the problem for good, tbh I'd let bmw at it..

Half shafts? Are they having a laugh? The abs sensor splits(first i ever heard) and you need two new half shafts??
Go indy i'd say, or ebay the feckers and do it yourself.
    Still though... half shafts. Lol

I would be happy to let them change the sensors but it surely won't need 2 half shafts on top of that though!?...
Was your issue abs/run flat warning lights or was it the interfering dtc?.

i am concerned that the flashing dtc (which happened before the abs lights came on) could be a totally separate issue, perhaps due to this steering angle sensor, does anyone know us this is an easy/cheap fix?

I wonder will the car need coding if I fit new sensors myself?.

DTS was starting to kick in a lot and abs light on.
Gave away the receipt when I sold the car sorry can't tell you more. I was charged an hours labour + parts, good service gave me a courtesy car while they were doing it and came back washed and a mini valet, that was with conlons limerick, find them pretty ok, was with another bmw main dealer recently and not nearly half as good service.

Just in case anyone is reading this with similar issues, my problem seems to be sorted!:)

Got a quote from the dealers today for all the work I quoted in a previous post, all in would have come to €1800.

Got the abs sensors cleaned and bit of clear coding for €100 with a BMW indie, so far, no lights to report! Fair enough I may still have to change ball joint and reattach front brake sensor pad but at least that is a DIY job...
