    Hi all,

I have a 2008 MkV GTi which I have driven VERY little over the last few months (using a company vehicle due to a lot of long country runs). It hadn't moved for nearly 6 weeks at one stage and recently when I went to take it out for a spin a the weekend I noticed the central locking wasn't working from the key fob? Key still opens the door and ignition? Tried a new battery but still the same? Any VW heads come across this before?

Sometimes they lose their memory and have to be reprogrammed. There is a manual procedure for doing it I think so might be worth a google search. Alternatively it only takes 5 minutes with the correct knowledge and diagnostic equipment.

Thanks George.. I'll google to see if I can do it myself. Failing that is there a cheaper alternative to bringing it to a dealer?

    This should work..

You certainly won't have to bring it to a dealer anyway that's for sure. Loads of Enthusiasts on here (professional and Amateur that should be able to sort you out)

Problem is I have only ever had one key for it! Thanks though.

I would try sticking the key in the door barrel pressing the lock/unlock button and see.
