Nickel reaction from hair pins?

I've had to stop wearing most costume jewelry over the last couple of years because I've gone from an occasional nickel reaction to the burning scratchies every time I have it on my skin. Hair pins seem to be triggering it now as well (the reaction disappears very quickly once I remove them and they're the only metal thing anywhere near my skin these days) :( This is an epically annoying reaction because I pin my hair up a lot and my stupid fringe back all the time and there's no way to sit in work scratching myself all day without people thinking I have scabies.

Just wondering if anyone else with a nickel allergy/reaction experiences the same thing?

I have a nickel allergy too.I put nail varnish on the back of my costume jewellery, belt buckles, watches etc.I even get a reaction to the top button on my jean's if I don't tuck a t shirt inbetween my skin & jean's.When my skin reacts to the nickel,it's like huge hives around the area.If I keep scratching they do start to scab.
