South Dublin - Approx how much does it cost per m2 to acid clean redbrick?

Probably wouldn't need scaffolding as only the ground floor is brick while the top half is rendered.

When top half was recently rendered there is alot of cement splashes on the brickwork, that need to be cleaned.

As a second cost per m2, approx how much is it to rake and repoint the brickwork?

Best bet would be daywork I would say, have a fella look at it,agree the amount of days it will take.Specify the type of pointing you would like done,Flush, bucket handle and recessed being much cheaper than weatherstruck & cut or tuck pointing obviously.

    Daywork methinks.

Never do day work, ask how much the job will cost and pay that.

I thought that would be self-evident enough, doing something by day-work does not give carte-blanche to do a small job for 3 weeks.Ask the man how long(or many days) it would take, agree on a price and duration.

Not to be flippant, but if you asked me to do that job,and wanted only quotes per M2,our conversation would be quite short. If someone is willing to take the time out to do a cost analysis on a wee job like that, more power to them, but I can't see a queue of brickies willing to take the job on your current terms.

Good luck with whatever you decide, and I hope the job gets done to your satisfaction.

I remember getting a quote of around €100 plus vat p/m2 to rake and re-point my front facade with lime mortar. Ended up raking the joints myself and got my blocklayer to re-point on day works. Paint removal from the facade prior to this was around €85 p/m2 plus vat using a poultice paint remover. I did this myself too.

Day works are fine if your tradesmen are reputable. A lot of restoration work can't be priced accurately and has to be done on this basis. Most of the tradespeople I use don't like day works because it puts them under pressure. As in no matter how hard they work the client always thinks they should be working harder.
