Overnight in Frankfurt Airport

I'm planning out a route which will have us arrive in FRA at 2055, and (hopefully) getting a train out in the morning around 0730, 0800.

I see (from the website) that there are a couple of hotels in the airport right on top of the train station, so I'm assuming it's 5-10 minutes walk across the concourse in the morning.

I also see there are a couple of hotels in the area which have shuttles to the airport, but because we want to get out of there so early I don't want to have to spend time waiting for the shuttle, hoping I don't miss my train, etc . . . If they are easy walking distance from the train station I would be happy enough.

So, can anyone recommend any good value hotels in FRA, withing walking distance to the train station? It really will be a question of arrive, sleep, wake, depart, so criteria don't stretch much beyond "must not be a kip". I have seen the Hilton, Hilton & Sheraton so far - are there others to consider?

As ever with the z family we will probably end up with 2 rooms since German hotels don't seem to do 4 person rooms in my experience. I know there are some that do, but I've always had terrible trouble finding them. 2 rooms means that a relatively cheap €100 room becomes €200 for ~8h hours, in & out, hence my desire to keep costs low.

    Thanks,

    z

funny you ask as I was looking at hotels in the area as they can be great value!
EDIT: but the value hotel (Novotel Niederrad) seems to have been rebranded to a Dorint since the summer!

if you arent against booking 2 rooms in principle then theres an ibis nearby the airport that had a price of 47euro per room per night for the nights i checked. Also checkout Motel one which are a very nice chain of hotels but they only do doubles and are sometimes more suited to motorists than folks taking trains.

You could also try about the main station area. Not sure which ones would have quad room but i did see some the last time I looked. Youre only 10min from the airport and then for the next morning you can catch the train without any messing.

Thanks for those pointers. Yeah, I realised shortly after posting that the train will be coming through both the airport & the city so I can just as easily stay in the city centre too, although it would be technically easier (for lazy people like me) to step off flight, step into hotel, go to sleep. I've no problem getting the s-bahn on the Friday night so I may well do that.

If all goes to plan, I will be getting a nice comfy ICE down to Munich & then the usual sardine can of a train to Austria on Saturday morning in the ski season. If I can manage to get the early tickets it will be something like €79 for the entire family, or (much better when it comes to the scrum in Munich) about €120 1st class. The main advantage of 1st class is that you avoid entire families trying to cram onto a single seat in your compartment, with their skis.

theres a direct train from Frankfurt to Salzburg and onto Bishofshofen/ Villach etc at 7.44 on a Saturday morning it seems, if that's any use to ye.
Another advantage of 1st class is that you can use the DB lounge, so free tea/ coffee/ beer when waiting on a train.
Might be of more use on the way back should maybe the mrs want to do shopping in Munich on the way back or something.

    regarding hotel.
what about the ibis styles, which for a random friday night in November is a shade under the 100euro incl breakfast for 2 adults and 2 kids in a room and is 100yards from the station.

and when the kids are asleep you can burst to O Reillys for a quiet pint opposite the station should you need it!

if you search through the hotel chain main website www.accorhotels.com/ you'll see the deals on the other hotels in the area.
Novotel Frankfurt City is my regular haunt but its as much to do with the free parking in the area as anything else.
Still, a taxi from there to the station would barely be a tenner.
Actually, the holiday inn express (messe) is a short taxi ride from the main station along the river and has 4person rooms and breakfast included for normally a very cheap price. Could be a cheap option even with the cost of 2 taxis built in.
EDIT: I see theres also one near the station. Never checked their room types but it would normally also have rooms with double beds and convertable sofa for a reasonable price.
