    It's missing it's alloys.

Front bumper is the wrong shade

I know it's usually the light and/or camera, but all the paint on the car looks very strange. The side profile of the car has the front and rear ends looking completely different to the doors.

    Otherwise looks very clean.

Mentioned that to the brother, but it doesn't bother him as long as the car is a good one ( not thrashed / crashed / clocked or flooded) Can always pick up a set of alloys on adverts.

Would there be room for haggling there?, jaysus them hub caps look dire alloys NEED to be put back on!, but looks like a well looked after car apart from that.

    It screams hackney to me.
It probably isn't but those wheels!

Going to have a look at this Passat tomorrow, anybody know the car or garage?
Any thought about the price, how much should we offer if it all checks out?
    Thanks

    looks like a uk import:

Aren't they all?? It looks clean enough but they can be a troublesome beast. Test drive with your head not your heart. Try to drive it on rough roads and listen out for clonking in the suspension. Check ALL the electrics work, especially all 4 windows and the hazard warning lights. Check for excessively worn seats gearknob pedal rubbers. Check for uneven tyre wear too.

I've had a 03 Passat for the last 5 years, will be checking out those points along checking for damp, water ingress from pollen filter etc.
If he like's it, next stage is to get a mechanic to give it a thorough going over..

It's also missing it's foglights and steering wheel controls ;)

Steering wheel looks suspiciously shiny, lots of wear on brake-pedal rubber, why no mats? Ex taxi at a guess. Oh and I hope the tyres are better than on the ex-Singapore Beemer they have for sale

Don't think they were standard even on higher spec models back then.

maybe the fogs but when I was on the look out for my 03 Passat the only one I saw the steering wheel controls was a W8 model

    2004/5 models had them

No they were on the options list. Family member has an 05 uk import which has steering wheel controls but no fogs.

We'll need a VAG head to tell us but I'm almost certain that the steering wheel controls were fitted as standard to highline/sportline models in 2004/5. I also thought that foglights were too. Happy to admit I'm wrong if they weren't.

I know that this link is for NI but the only one with fogs is the W8, and I can't find any with multifunction wheels for 2004

I think you must be right actually. It seems to be hit and miss as to which highlines have it from looking on autotrader. Any imports I've ever looked at seemed to have it but then again I would have been looking for cruise control as a search requirement anyway.

Sorry, ignore my brain fart about the fogs and multifunction steering wheel.

Is that a bit pricey for a 9 yr old with a few miles on her, no?

    Otherwise, she looks well.

Comparing the prices of similar cars in carsni and autotrader.co.uk, when you factor in currency exchange and VRT, not much in it....

Its always a little more when buying off a dealer but its worth it IMO. Hopefully you'll be able to get him down a bit on that. If you can get it in around the 3 and a half mark you'll have done well.

Best of luck with it. :)

After looking at a ton of sh1te, ( not including the one I linked to, he didn't like the leather interior... ) including a 3 hour round trip to view a "perfect" 80,000 mile , just serviced example from a "Dealer" in wexford that was in reality a 180,000 miler that wouldn't start, had suspension that sounded / felt like a bag of hammers, and paint / body work done by Stevie Wonder, how I didn't punch that scrawny necked fu(ker in the face...... we finally sourced one, a genuine one owner, 60,000 mile 2003 pd100 Passat, good spec, full history, timing belt just done through these guys in Churchtown : http://www.martindoolanmotors.ie/
Did all the checks, cartell etc, little bro is very happy with purchase, and I did my bit by converting a long time non believer to the flock :D

He also got a great deal on his insurance with a broker that got him a great deal based on his previous 14 year company car policy.

60K on a 10 year old diesel Passat is shockingly low.

    Nice find all the same.

I forgot about this thread. A friend pm'd me through FB he's selling his 03 for 2500. It's a base spec unfortunately but does have the genuine red D red I engine. It was his fathers car from new, nct until March and taxed until August. Car was minded like a baby, he didn't tell me the mileage but knowing the seller it isn't high.
