Seems a bit steep, is it a Nissan garage quoting you?

Was he wearing a stripey jumper and a balaclava?? Just kidding, that's way too much, maybe €15 max for each boot and at most €40 each side to fit them, id say the job could easily be done for less than €100 in fact.

Parts yes but not labour. maybe €150 with both done but €100 would leave him with like €10!

2002, is it the k11 or the k12 (old or new shape)?
You can get the boot cheap as chips. Check micksgarage
Labour will vary, ring a few local garages and ask. They will probably want to use their own sources for the boot but it's less than 20 for the boot depending on where you go.

    Are you handy around cars?
Does car make any noises on full lock?

Was it a 'main dealer'. Some of those places have ridiculous hourly rates, independent garages are usually far cheaper

Are you sure you weren't quoted for a pair of cv joints rather than just boots?

It was an independent garage. It was a quote for the boots.

It is extremely expensive for just boots. What was the breakdown of parts and labour do you know?

I didn't get the breakdown. What would you expect to pay for a job like that in a small independent garage?

You should be looking at a maximum of €100 for labour, €30 for parts then 13.5% VAT so definitely no more than €150 in total. That is allowing for €15 per boot which is very generous, also allowing for one hour per side @ €50 per hour which is also very generous.

The reason I asked you for the breakdown of the price is that I don't see how it is possible to come up with a figure of €230 for that job unless it was for complete CV joints rather than just boots.

I agree the quote must of been for 2 joints rather than boots maybe some misunderstanding.
