    Hi
Im currently buying a 1989 ford f350 dually with the 7.3 v8 diesel.
Is there a way to find the gvw? I want to ensure I can drive it on a standard licence and I keep seeing online figures like 11000 lbs. Can't be right surely?

They are nearly 4 ton in standard form, 11000lb GVW sounds about right.

They are over the 3500 kg so can't be driven on normal car license and do believe they need a tachograph installed

    Oh lord..
Is there a way I can know for sure? It is listed on the motortax website as being in the 0-3000kg section.
But I cant find a way to get the weight of the vehicle by the reg plate.

Why bother? Is because I'm a bit mad like that and I love american cars.

I dont have it yet, just deposit placed. Well - I guess we will see when it comes back from the weighbridge at the DOE.

Can you not ask them what its listed on the log book?
Also do you know what the 7.3 is like, they are pre power stroke design and are a bit of a dog engine, non turbo. They are only around 180 hp, seems ok spec but its a lot of weight to push

I could, but I would prefer to see the certificate for myself. The truck is quite a distance from my house so I cant really travel there again (until picking it up obviously)

Yeah I know what they are like, i'm not buying it for speed just for novelty value haha.
Might belt on a turbo in a while ha

you may be able to get it replated under the 3500kg weight as this is not the weight of the but but the weight carrying capacity. Say it weighs 3100kg you would need to get it plated to carry 400kg.
