Pumping tyres with presta valves

I check the tyres (23c) before every cycle and pump them to 110psi. But when I am taking off the track pump it always releases a certain amount of air. This happens every time no matter how careful I am.
Is this just happening to me? If not, how much do ye reckon might be getting out? Do ye pump the tyres higher than 110psi , say to 115 to take account of this?
Am I just slowly going mad with this cycling stuff to be even thinking about this?

    You are slowly going mad...

There'll be air in the pump hose at 110psi when you take it off. That's gotta go somewhere.

Ah there would indeed be air in hose. I didn't think of that at all. Thanks for that. I can move on to some other inane minutiae to fret about now!

I find I get the pump connector off the valve much quicker if I have the valve at 12:00 rather than 06:00 if that makes sense (ie. valve at top of wheel). Seems to be a faster smoother operation altogether, with less hissing.

However Heisenberg's uncertainty principle would mean that you can not measure something and be certain it is that value as in doing the measurement itself the system is disturbed! :D

Some track pumps have a small button on them that releases the pressure in the pump. This gets rid of the annoying whoosh of air when you disconnect the pump. I assume your's doesn't have this button. On mine it's a yellow button near the top of the pump body.

My old pump didn't have the pressure release button, so when a kindly burglar stole my old one I upgraded to my new pump that had a pressure release button.

Don't worry about the madness. I had the exact same experience (and uncertainty) not that long ago, as I'm a noob too. :)
