Car bought 2nd-hand for business - no receipt

Hello - I bought a commercial jeep last year for cash - no receipt. It was for the sole purpose of a new business that I was starting. I'm about to do my 2012 return. Will I be able to claim it as a business expense without a receipt? Could I 'prove' the purchase by somehow showing the date of registration of ownership? Any advice welcome....

As far as I'm concerned, I paid him all that was due, up to him to be honest with what he pays the revenue in terms of vat. Doubt I'd have got any receipt if I'd asked...

Claim it and write it off over the required period. Not unusual to pay for a car with cash as no one would take a cheque or bank draft if they have any brains.

Not really the way to start a business. If at any point in the future you get a Revenue audit you better be able to produce a receipt for everything you are claiming as a deduction as they won't accept that as an excuse and may add back anything you don't have proof of.
