MacBook guide for mortals

Is there any place a non-nerd (I hope that is not a derogatory term around here) can learn the basics of his new MacBook? I've tried the Apple forums but they are incomprehensible.

Having spent a lifetime on a PC, I am stumped for simple tasks - opening two on-line pages, for example - and need a simple manual or forum where I can ask basic questions.

    Thanks

    Ask here.

What do you mean by “two on-line pages”? Like two browser windows or tabs?

    Any other questions, fire away.

As Sad prof says, ask here. Instead of using the Apple forums, try their knowledge base, its where Apple Tech support get their answers, and should be easy enough to navigate.

    Thanks folks.
On my old PC I could read a page on-line and then when I wanted to check something else on-line, I would fold down the first page so it would remain as a small icon on the bottom of the screen. I could then return to it when I had finished with the second page simply by clicking on it.
On my Apple, I can open a new page from File - New Tab - but can't get my original page back.
    Help?

All your open tabs are visible at the top of the Safari window, right below the toolbar. Just click on the one you want to go back to or click on the x to close it. It’s the same on Windows, but it seems you were creating new windows and minimising them, which is a rather messy way of doing it.

You can learn more about Safari here:

Thanks Prof. I will study the Safari document. Much obliged.

    Banbh

In safari to minimise (fold) a window into the task bar as you say just click the amber button on the top of the window, if you choose to work in separate windows under file (in safari) new window. To open or unfold the old window if you look down to the bottom right in your dock (the one with all the application icons) near the wastebasket you'll see a safari window with the safari icon, this is very similar to how it works on windows, just slightly different.
