Need to Crack my Own Bicycle Lock!

OK..........so I made the fatal mistake of going straight to the pub after work and losing my bag over the course of the night. As well as a good whack of good running stuff, one set of car keys, ID etc, i've also left the keys of my bicycle lock in the bag so am in a bit of a pickle now. Luckily for me i had to good sense to at least lock the bike in drury street car park before pub time. The lock's a fairly good one - its a heavy duty chain lock, not far off a motorbike lock. What's the best way in getting this off?

    Anyone any ideas?

    Thanks

    Dave

First of all contact the local Garda Station closest to where you left the bike.

Dont want to be arrested for stealing your own bike lol.

Sorry to hear this. Loads of stuff on youtube about this (unfortuneatly...) but in summary:

Can you get the chain so that it is resting on the floor?
How good is the padlock that goes with the chain? If its not as good as the chain attack the lock instead.
Get some plumbers freezing spray from a hardware shop and borrow a lump/ sledge hammer and hit the cooled area it will likely break.

Keep the cooled bit as far from your bike as you can.

You might need a few good whacks to break it.

Wear eye protection in case of splinters.

Failing that bolt cutters or a hack saw or a cordless angle grinder etc etc etc...

Also ask them if the bag has been handed in.
