    Hi,

So im trying to get my docs certified for my skills assessment ahead of my application for PR- im trying to figure out who can certify them for me.

What it says on the Vetasses website is "All documents must be certified as a true copy of the original by a person who is authorised to certify documents in your country."

My family (Kildare) found a notary but he wants to charge 70 euro to sit down and 50 for each document which is gonna work out at around 300 quid. Seems like daylight robbery to me!

Can i get the guards or someone else to do this for me or for cheaper?

    Cheers,

    Barry

Some bank officials can do it , plus in Australia they accept a cop certifying it

If you have a Registered Migration Agent they can do it for you.

Got the Garda to do mine a few years back. 50EUR to stamp a document seems ridiculous.

I wouldn't pay 50c to get them stamped. Go into the cop station and they'll sign them for you on the spot for free.

A Garda should not certify a document as being a true copy of the original.

They did for me. No issue once I showed the original with the copy.

OP, I presume you are still in Ireland from the references to Kildare and the guards, this thread over in Legal suggests that:
An Garda Siochana no longer certify documents
You need to look for a Commissioner for Oaths in your area

Justice of the Peace is free in Australia and have always been available when I've need one (which is alot). Ridiculous how much thievery goes on back in Ireland.

    From www.citizensinformation.ie

"A Commissioner for Oaths, who is also a Peace Commissioner, must not charge fees for administering oaths or taking declarations or affirmations that they are required by law not to charge for as a Peace Commissioner."

    Interesting.

They definitely do! Mostly older people I get and when they see my degree title things typically spiral out of control...
