Lads ive probably exhausted ye with talk of superlevys etc. Anyways i have 58k gallons of quota inc temp lease. Was talking to lad for arrabawn in the kno he reckons i should get up to the 77k gallons from flexi and even more. Should i pay head, i thought if u were under 77k u got 9:1 compared to larger quota holders of flexi. Am i right or is he??

The way things are going Kev super levy is looking very likely in Arrabawn ,if so there will be very little flexi milk and you definitely won't get anywhere near 8o k Ltrs.flexi milk distribution rules are changed for this year with over 350 k Ltrs suppliers gettin a bigger chunk .dont know what the exact figure is though.give the coop a ring in morning and look for Tom mcaulieff .id be very slow to plough on and take a chance if your over quota now.

I think the allocation is gone from 90% to those under 77k gallons to 75%. Added to the likelihood of there being a lot less there with better quality forage and milk price improving anyone set to finish on quota or under won't hold back. I'll be driving on as I have 50k litres to make up from the poor start to the year

Ok slightly offtopic here, but as ya said kev, too many threads about quota already ha! Anyways, I got the Glanbia form about buying quota for the 2014/15 year, I'd have a decent chance of getting some, being u35 and all that. What sort of money would I have to pay though? 5c/l was the figure for this year I think (2yrs worth), I can't really see it being worth that for 1 year, does anyone know what its lightly be be going for?

Don't want to burst yer bubble lads but yell be doin well to get 1 k Ltrs at that price.3 years ago when I was under 350 k and under 35 I bought nearly 30 k Ltrs and only 900 odd of that at 5 cent.market clearing price will be interesting .will def be bidding at 3 cent as I'm under 35 and on exchange at somewhere between 10 and 15 cent a litre.first exchange will be interesting as I reckon it will be cheaper on that exchange than phase 2.

Don't worry I know that, having said that I applied for I think 20k in the temp leasing this year, and got 4k. I'm still planning for next yr with the quota I have, anything more is a bonus and will just mean milking on culls abit longer etc.

Fleximilk is basically leasing quota from other farmers in your co-op is it? How come the farmer who is offering the quota for lease still only gets 2c/l??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 908 ✭✭✭funny man

not so. no leaseing more re-distributing the unused quota, and the guy that dosn't use it gets nothing.

No flexi is the redistribution of other peoples and coops unused quota at year end, generally those under 77k get preference over those with a larger quota. Temperary leasing is bought/ sold for 2c/l but years like this there is f-all of it there
