    Hi
Just wondering can anyone offer any assistance. Ordered replacement key cover for a 2004 peugeot 307 from ebay its the two button one for a friend. (Buttons goosed on old one) The long and short of it was even though I said I would transfer bits over he got at it himself and that yesterday eve came back to me saying the car would not start. I changed a few covers and over the past and had no problem.
Anyway realised he had not put the little transponder in the new case so luckily he didnt throw old case out. I transfered the transponder over and car still wont start it locks and unlocks car but engine just turning and turning.
Car starts with other key just ordinary key with no cenral locking buttons on the case. All that was changed was the case the blade is the old one. Has the immobiliser to be reset or what am I doing wrong as I said changed cases on a good few keys and had no problem. I tried disconnecting battery for a cpl mins still does not work. Any help greatly appreciated as it is doing my head in.
    Many thanks.

It sounds like the immobiliser which is strange.
As it's the same chip it shouldn't need resetting or anything, just switching over to the new cut key.
So the old key with the same chip works?
The new cut key with old chip turns in the ignition, but the engine won't fire?

Yes its the immobiliser I know but I wonder does something need resetting also its NOT a new cut key as I said the only thing that was changed was the plastic case as it s buttons were goosed its old key and nothing else was changed except the black case with the two buttons for central locking. The spare key works fine but there are no buttons on it for the central locking.

What you have done normally works unless the transponder chip has been lost damaged.

Try a this...but do it at your own risk....:)

    Part 1
Lift Bonnet and prop up, open drivers window and leave open
Put Key in ignition and turn on ignition.
Turn off ignition and take key out whilst outside (through open drivers window)
Wait until mileage display goes out - Wait another 2 minutes
Disconnect positive on main battery (Bonnet is open!)
    Wait 5 minutes
Re-connect main battery (Leave bonnet up)
Turn sidelights on then off from outside of car through drivers window that had been left open. Do not open door.

    Part 2
Put key in ignition and turn ignition on, press lock button for 20 secs
Turn ignition off and remove key
Remote lock and remote alarm now work

Repeat Part 2 for second fob....:)

If you have no luck with the above then check to see if you have the transponder code (key card with 4 digit code) that came with the car when new..?
If you don't have the code then it can be got at peugeot tru your vin number at a fee..
Once you have this code then its worth reprogramming all keys it with diagnostic equipment.....:)
