Headphones for Fiio Montblanc amp

My headphones with a built in amp gave up the ghost, so I've bought the Fiio E12 and was hoping someone could recommend headphones that might compliment it. I wouldn't want to pay more than 150, I'd be comfortable around the 100 mark and don't mind second hand. Something with good base but an allrounder for classical music too.

By the by, the wireless headphones(SMS 50 cent) that broke were fantastic when you used a wired connection, absolute cack when you went wireless.

Mosltly used for walking, but also for listening to music/movies on my laptop. I was considering the denon ahd1100, but was reluctant as it appears the plastic hinges will break.
Would the technicas need the amp to drive them? Much of a difference?

Thats a great thread alright, I'm going to go for the m50s, they're a few quid more than the Denons but I don't mind that as they need to be robust, thanks for your pointers Morf

yep, M50s are good all-rounders. If you have few quid left consider JVC HA-S500, as you said you like good bass - some users on Head-Fi like them more than M50.

M50s don't really benefit from amping! Just in case you're expecting colossal difference. They are a sweeeet pair though

I'll be using them mostly with my mobile, and think they would need an amp to drive them. I like it loud!

They are still fairly easily driven from all devices, or so I found when I had my pair but E12, will get them to silly levels! :cool:

Was a silly silly boy who thought he needed better, but before I could buy anything the money was spent. Just a foolish decision really they were honestly great

I have a pair of M 50s with the idea of getting a Schiit Magni and Modi to run them from the pc. I've seen elsewhere that they do respond well to amping.

Is there anywhere that you read this? Could you post the link please?

From my experience with them, I never noticed massive difference. Tried on a few portable amps! Never tried them through amp/dac combos though, so you could totally get different results! :P
