Having the mother and father of clean up here in the office/bedroom:rolleyes:. one full rubbish bag already so serious dust rising here. Anyway, how long are we supposed to retain paperwork. For instance

    Bank statements
    Invoices
    Feed and Forage Documents
    Antibiotics prescriptions
    Chemical records
    Animal death certs

    etc etc

I presume 5 yrs for bank, but take feed documents can they be discarded after 12months?

Had this conversation with with accountant recently as we done a serious clean out as well
He advised 5 years by law but to keep at least 7 yrs but if you are audited it is up to you to prove your self right so we have kept accounts back 15 yrs

Company Law is the one that is normally recognised, which from memory states "documentation has to be kept for a full 6 years after the date that it was applicable to". Which in most cases is 7 years.
Although I am sure you are aware to keep any legal documents/contracts ect for eternity.

Are you sure about the QA and 7 years?

I was trying to dig something up the other day and I was rooting through the pack that they send you out and I'm nearly sure I read somewhere in it that records have to maintained for 3 years.
It was an old pack mind you so maybe its changed.

Department want feed documents for years 5,6,7??? I cant remember but you have to keep them for compliance. They use them for tracing BSE cases to see if there is a feed link. You need invoices, delivery dockets batch numbers and ingredients!!! Doubt if many would ever have a proper set. You also need them for Nitrates compliance. Council might be looking for them in however many years time to see did the farmer comply.
