Laptop Battery not Detected

So I accidentally dropped my laptop just 20 minutes ago, it dropped from about 1ft, on to a carpet floor, on to the back left corner of the laptop (where charger cable connects), and the rest of the laptop (all but back left corner) fell on to a pillow. It didn't fall directly on to the charger, and the charger is not lose at all in the slot.

Anyway, the laptop turned off as it happened, and then when I turned it back on again it was in repair mode, trying to figure out what the problem was, it suggested I do a system restore after not finding any problem, so I did it. The laptop is on now and working fine, except that if I unplug it at all, it turns off, and on the bottom right where the power options are, there's a red X over it saying "Battery not Detected".

Any way I can fix this without sending it in to be repaired? I just got it back less then 2 weeks ago from being repaired, which took a whole month, don't really feel like going another month without it.

Try removing the battery from the laptop and re-seating it. Perhaps one of the contacts came loose when it fell (especially if its a slide in battery)

If that does not work, try turning off the laptop, remove the battery, power on laptop with power lead connected, wait until windows has fully loaded, then re-insert the battery while the laptop is on.

It's fixed now, it just started working for no apparent reason
