Hi everyone. I am currently negotiating with a shop owner here in my own county about buying an 140kg Olympic weight set. The original price was 399 which dropped to 365 on the first time of asking. The said shop has a guarantee to match any price or beat it if possible if its available somewhere else, so I said that the same set is only 299 on irish-lifting.com. At this point, she checked it out and said it would 334 including courier. So is this a good enough price? Will i continue to negotiate? Is there a cheaper set i can cite somewhere in ireland?
I'd rather buy in my own county to avoid delivery charges. Thanks lads.

surely a price guarantee doesn't included delivery?
if so then ask her to split the difference. If she wants your business she might.

i'd say thats already the difference split.. but ya, i don't think that the price guarantee should include delivery either. And just as a general thing, weights in this country are very expensive compared to the likes of America.. for example, Dicks sporting goods has a 300lb weight set for $209. That's about 155 euro approx.

Not an Irish company but I ordered from them recently and there was no delivery charge. Use the code getlifting to get 10% off which brings the total to about €255.

how did you avoid delivery charges? Mines coming up as 50 pounds delivery?

There was just an option for free delivery at checkout. Perhaps it's just free delivery on larger orders as mine was 500+.

    Sorry about that.

Just a follow up to this thread. Am in the same boat myself looking for Olympic weights set. I'm also looking for 6ft bar instead of 7ft. 100 kg set would slso do to get me going. Anybody bought a set recently at a good price? New seems to be as cheap as second hand with this stuff.
