Hi, looking for recommendations on finishing external insulation. We currently have all the boards on and are finishing base coat/render finish over the next week hopefully. At d mo, my guys want to put a J channel and finish up to it. My concern is that area above, all be it small wont be sealed with base/finish. We have foamed round rafters etc already. They have told me that they wouldn't fit the trowel in between roof anyway in some spots to finish. I know in retrofits, the system is brought up to the existing soffit so is what they are suggesting ok?

It will be grand to finish up to the j trim so long as you have the insulation going up past it .

Ye we have it up beyond the soffit level and slotted around roof timbers. I was just worried that it would because that section wouldn't have base coat/render that it would be open to elements and effect the systems operation. Thanks for d reply! :)

It wont be open to the elements , sure wont it be closed off behind the facia and soffit ? Just make sure no water can run down behind the finish or it will cause it to blow off .
