    The African elephant reaches that weight and there are confirmed specimens on record of that weight and one or two that are reputed to have been much heavier.

    It is true, I think the biggest elephant on record was like 12 tons, a true monster.
    But those are exceptional; the prehistoric one was still bigger than most elephants, and just imagine how monstrous an exceptional individual of that species would be...:cool:
