Problems installing a software program

I'm trying to download a program to my new Windows 8 pc. It's a graphics program called DoCrafts Digital Designer and I've previously downloaded it on to Windows XP and Windows 7 pcs. Now when I try to install it I get an error message saying that the installer is damaged. This happens whether I try to install from discs that I have or direct from their website. I have contacted DoCrafts technical support and when they eventually replied all they sent me was the installation advice that is on their website and which I have followed.

I'm thinking that this might be a problem with Windows 8 and wondered if anyone could tell me what I might do to install this program. I have purchased several discs from DoCrafts ( at extra expense because I'm in Ireland of course). The images that are on this disc cannot be imported into any other graphics programs so I am stuck.

Right click the installer > Properties > Compatibility and run select an older version of Windows.

Try above and if this does not work then try installing it with Administrator privileges.

When I right click the installer and select properties I only get General Security and Details tabs - nothing about compatibility. That's on the installer that I downloaded - I will check the installer on the discs and see if it's different.

OK, I've done that and still got the same error message, however a compatibility troubleshooter opened and eventually told be that it's an incompatible program. I've heard from someone on another forum who has the program installed with Windows 8 though.
