Are scrunchie ties a wedding only thing?

I think they look so much better than normal ties. Is there a reason that they are unpopular?

    Do you mean cravats?
They're considered very formal which I presume is why we only really see them at weddings

tie-a-scrunchie-main.jpg This is what i mean. AFAIK its a cravat tied like a normal tie. I was thinking that I might wear one to my debs, be slightly original.

Ah yeah, would be nice with a 3 piece, match/contrast colour of date's dress?

They were fairly common at debs 10 years ago when I had mine. Personally I think they're horrible but if you like them go for it.

TBH if you want to be original, wear a tux that actually fits you properly, with proper shoes, a self-tie tie and no wing collar. You never see lads at debs in that. :D

If you want to push the boat out try get a navy tux, a shawl collar, or a horse-shoe waistcoat. Wear a shirt with studs rather than buttons. In all honesty, black tie is not the place to go crazy. But if money is an issue, here's a decent alternative tuxedo article:

The first is my favourite. Looks sharp, different from what most lads will be wearing, and won't be embarrassing in photos in 5, 10, 20 years.

I couldn't agree more with you on that bit. Poorly fitted suits drive me crazy. Personally, I don't like the horse-shoe waistcoat but I will definitely try out some navy suits and I'll look out for the shawl lapel.
