    I put them in last winter; tbh didn't make a noticeable difference.

    Radiators AFAIK are convection based in terms of how they heat the room, - but can there be heat loss via the wall through radiating heat? Surely its reasonable to say some heat will get lost through the wall...

    Anyone tried them and notice a difference?

    They're only useful when you have radiators on external walls or party walls. Heat loss increases in proportion to the temperature difference between inside and outside. If it's -3 outside and the inside surface of your outside wall is heated to 35c due to the radiator (38c difference), you'll be losing more energy than if the wall is at 18c (21c difference).
