He'll need headlight focussing equipment or you're wasting your time. Sounds like he doesn't if he's calling to you.

Most tyre and most car mechanic garages would have the equipment and usually find it to be €10 or €15.

    Where are you based?

It depends on how bad out the lights are but not long as they will do it with you there.

Basically you need long alan key type tools for most and adjust to right position.

Badly focused lights are dangerous, best doing it properly. Lining up the beams against a wall isn't the way to do it, OP will only end up having to redo it at nct time and in the meantime will be blinding the rest of us.

Over last 7 years I've driven and owned many different cars in Ireland I never used any mechanic to focus my light.
I always do it myself, and all equipment I used for it was allen keys and measuring tape.
Went through 10+ NCT tests over that time, and never failed on lights.

So no - headlight focusing equipment is not a must once you know how to do it.

I get the impression that the OP is not the DIY type when it comes to focusing headlights though.

Is it just me but headlamps aren't focused they are aligned as in the beam is adjusted up down and left right.

Maybe I spent too much time as electronic engineer

I'd say to get it do by a pro in a shop with proper equipment, don't bother with wall markings or any of that. It's worth the money and you won't aggravate other drivers with badly aligned headlights for the sake of ten euro.

That's crazy talk. Sure when you think about it in the grand scheme of running a car, ten euro is a pretty large amount to be just throwing around....
