    Hi guys,

I have tried looking online and there doesnt seem to be a problem accross the board or that with Mazda 6's that I can see but I could have missed something.

Anyway my car since I got it 2 years ago has had squeky brakes. I've had the car serviced twice since even getting it new pads after the first time and even then the squek continued.

Mechanic has assured me it doesnt need new discs and is perfectly safe. He reckoned it would stop squeking when the new pads wore in a bit.

So anyway it didnt stop and its just irratating more than anything else. Doesnt happen all the time. Its when you touch the brakes as apposed to hitting them full on.

Happens more when its dry than in the wet although does still happen a bit in the wet.

    Anyway any ideas at all?

    thanks.

Mechanic didn't bother greasing the back of the pads by the sounds of it.

Really something as simple as that?

You drive like an old lady.

If you brake by just barely touching the brakes, pretty quickly you build up a hard glaze on the brake pads. This will cause the squeal.

Exercise the brakes weekly and the squeak will be forever gone.
(By exercise I mean drive it like you stole it.)

My driving has calmed significantly since getting this car I'll admit as its auto I do tend to cruise more often.

However I do give it the odd rally and would brake hard now and then but still hasnt helped. I did actually think of this weirdly but doesnt seem to have helped.

Some copper paste behind the pads tend to help but I still think it's mainly driving style.
It's not going to cost much to test anyway. Bring it up to 100 and brake as had as you can, come to almost full stop. rinse & repeat a second or maybe a 3rd time.

Just the odd hard brake alone won't sort it.

    Id also say driving style.

I rarely get squeaky brakes. But im a semi aggressive driver
