Do all CE Schemes need garda vetting or do some of them have an immediate start?

    Thank you.

Some you can start immediately. It would depend on the role.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Any roles that don't require contact with children don't require garda vetting.

Garda vetting is taking up to 3 months absoutely ridiculous but then this is Ireland 1913:rolleyes: soo much for our IT systems....

    yes I did say 1913

Is your 'manager' the CE Supervisor for your scheme, if not then you need to get hold of your CE Supervisor, he has a duty of care towards the participants and to get them onto training course etc.

I wouldn't leave the scheme to go back on JSA unless you have a very good reason as you could be denied payment for up to 9 weeks and your better off on CE anyway, more freedom to make your own decisions about training etc..

I reckon it'd be the opposite, they'd have more freedom to do a variety of Courses back on a Jobseeker's Payment. Don't know if the C.E. Scheme Employer would be too happy with someone wanting to do a Course not associated with their area of Business or relevant to the Job at hand.

I recall going for an C.E. Scheme Office Position Interview fair while back before the Training Budget had been cut, and while the 2 Interviewers did make it sound like the Training Budget was the best thing since sliced bread, they made it pretty clear that they only wanted the Candidate to pick from a couple of Courses that they saw fit, Genealogy and something else. Like not even Office Administration Courses, literally Courses that only covered what their Business did, they seemed to be strict about that.

But I do see and understand that this is logical in a way that ya wouldn't be doing any old variety of Courses that take yer fancy when in one specific job anyway. But I feel there'd be more of a variety of Courses available to choose from as a Jobseeker rather than while doing a Scheme.
