I have bought some contega sl tape and sealant to tape around my windows to make them airtight. My plasterer says he thinks it will leave the plaster boast and not take properly. It's going from pvc triple glazed windows onto Quinnlite blocks. Just wondering what people think? Is he right to think this? As I thought the tape was designed to take plaster at this junction?

I'm around that stage at the moment,, what I done...

150mm cavity closed off with the cavity insulation 150mm platinum EPs board.

internal block reveal light coat sand cement to give smooth surface.

Constiga taped to window frame across cavity to block.

The constiga has a double sided sitcky so I stuck plasters skrim tape and bonded with a light skim of bonding compound.

Using a j-bead stainless steel fixed to window and the plaster board inserted into this and bonded to internal block, ready to rock for plaster.

Thanks esox. So the tape is under the plasterboard and not getting sand and cement directly onto it.

Yea your right, plaster board over the cavity because to give it a rigid base for plaster, as I've. No cavity closer only insulation to close. I'll post pics again.

I have a quick question for those in the know.

I'm looking at a house at the minute. Built about 2-3 years ago - left as a shell. Plastered, wired and plumbed.

Other houses in the development i've been told were given a B1 rating when finished.

I haven't spoken to the seller/developer/builder directly but i'm guessing no airtight tape was used at the windows.

If not, would anyone recommend -

    (a) strip off the reveals, airtight tape, fit new reveals and skim.

    (b) tape over existing reveals then re-skim.

    Thanks in advance.

Great looking job there esox, but why the osb boarding on ceilings and then counter battened?

A few reasons, to create a services cavity to run hrv ducting, electric and extra insulation. The osb is an air tight barrier.

Back on site tomorrow so I'll get some more of reviels, not saying it the right way but it's what I done.
I was on another job lately and builder had used a cavity closer block, the reviels were plastered and constegal taped over, good job but as the guys said massive cold bridge.
